HIGH ON A HILLTOP… Grizzly Ranch Golf Club THE GOLF APPAREL FOUNDERS FIND THEIR KIND OF PEOPLE ON THE EMERALD ISLE L ooking to take a golf getaway this summer and beat the heat, but don't want to travel far? Look north to California's Shasta Cascade and Sierra Nevada mountain region for some stellar golf and cooler temps. SHASTA CASCADE AREA Play some of the state's most beautiful golf cours- es in what we believe to be California's most under- rated golf region. Yoche Dehe Golf Club Located at the Cache Creek Casino Resort in the Capay Valley (40 minutes from Sacramento or San Francisco), Yoche Dehe consistently earns high praise for the 7,337-yard course designed by Brad Bell. Tucked away from the hustle and bustle, Yoche Dehe starts on a high note with a 170-foot drop-off on the first tee shot. The remaining 17 holes don't disappoint either, as Yoche Dehe's beautiful views (rolling hillsides and vineyards are nearby) and hole varieties will have you wanting to play the course twice in the same day. The Links at Rolling Hills As the name suggests, The Links at Rolling Hills (near Redding) is a links-style, 18-hole champion- ship-length golf course with design input from none other than long-hitting John Daly. It's expansive, tak- ing up nearly double the acreage than most courses and has plenty of opportunities for "teeing it high and letting it fly." The course is also popular for its diverse mix of greens, which are in great shape all year long. Diamond Mountain Golf Course Recently expanded from nine to 18 holes and mea- suring just over 6,400 yards, Diamond Mountain is a bit remote (located in Susanville), but a fun course to play for all skill levels. Expect a casual, comfortable round of golf with great views and tranquil mountain air, not to mention a good variety of golf holes and very friendly service.
