E Q U I P M E N T 28 SEPT/OCT 2017 28 SEPT/OCT 2017 BY ED TR AVIS CALLAWAY EPIC HYBRIDS This is the first triaxial carbon crown in a hybrid, the same construction as used in the Epic Driver and for the same reasons. The crown's low weight and extreme strength give designers discretionary weight to be positioned to help distance and forgiveness. Epic hybrids ($280) also have a very fast forged steel face cup and a strong steel frame. Face and frame are precision milled and parts are laser welded. Internally a specially formed tungsten weight places the center of gravity low and deep in the head. CLEVELAND TFi 2135 PUTTERS By raising the site line on the TFi 2135 models to 21.35 millimeters off the ground, making it the same height at the center of the ball, alignment is improved regardless of address position, whether the eyes are on, outside or inside the intended line of the putt. This year's five new models have higher contrast sightlines, multi-ma- terial head construction with a polymer face insert and face milling is three times deeper. The new designs (priced from $150 to $180) have a satin finish and two are counter balanced. Each year manufacturers tempt us with the latest in high tech designs and innovative uses of exotic materials. Though not all the 2018 club models have been announced yet, here's a short list of the ones we think are worth checking out: CLUBS FOR 2018 THAT WILL HELP YOU NOW
