THE GOLF APP THAT O ver the past decade, Bridgestone Golf has emerged as a leading golf ball innovator, and it's done it in a unique way. While all compa- nies rely on research and development departments to come up with new ways to improve equipment, Bridgestone brought the lab to the consumer through an extremely popular golf ball fitting program. Bridgestone has conducted more than three million fit- tings with players of all skill levels, and use this real-world data to help guide product development. The result is Bridgestone is able to design balls with specific performance characteristics to help any player, regardless of skill level, achieve optimal results. While players like Bryson DeChambeau, Matt Kuchar, Brandt Snedeker and Hudson Swafford have found the winner's circle using the company's B330 and B330-S balls, those of us whose scorecards don't regularly reflect rounds in the 60s might find that other balls work bet- ter. The key is finding a ball that best suits you, not simply adopting what the pros use. So, to make golf ball fitting as quick and easy as possible and to help more players find their ideal ball, Bridgestone has launched the new, and totally free, B-FIT Golf Ball Fitting Launch Monitor App. The application allows you, with the help of a friend, to record a golf swing on your iOS or Android smartphone and analyze it to see SWING SPEED, BALL SPEED, LAUNCH ANGLE, CARRY and TOTAL DISTANCE. Based in this information, the app will recom- mend the Bridgestone ball that best fits your needs. Bridgestone has also unveiled the TOUR B Series of golf balls. The four new models – X, XS, RX, RXS – replace the iconic B330 lines and represent the most technologically advanced product in company history. As with all Bridgestone models, the company utilized its R&D data from fittings to determine how specific characteristics would benefit different players. In addi- tion, Bridgestone used white label sur- veys and data from third-party industry sources to gauge and fulfill exact needs of customers. TOUR B X and XS are designed for low handicap golfers looking for exceptional feel. Compared to the B330 and B330-S predecessors, the X and XS provide more spin and greenside control due to softer urethane cover formulation, while increased distance comes from enhanced aerodynamics and improved 330 Dual Dimple design. The X is for those players looking for more accuracy off the tee while the XS provides extra length. The RX and RXS are for mid-to-low handicappers, delivering explosive dis- tance and optimized trajectory thanks to high repulsion construction and new 338 modified Dual Dimple design. The RX will help players hit more fairways while those looking for unmatched feel will gravitate toward the RXS. "Unlike other manufacturers, we don't try to shoe-horn golfers into a ball that doesn't fit their game," says Adam Rehberg, Bridgestone Golf Ball Fitting. "Plain and simple, our goal is to help golfers find the ball that will lower their scores by maximizing per- formance from tee to green." If you are unsure what type of golf balls you should be playing, the B-FIT app is the easiest and most cost-effec- tive way to get the answer. For a sec- ond opinion, share the data with your instructor and discuss the results and findings.
